Increase Password Complexity

The TimeForce II system includes multiple options for increasing the security of passwords in the system.

Click on the main “Admin” tab, and then on the “Settings” link located under the System Tools heading. Browse to the User Security section of the screen. The following options are available.

  • Put a check mark in the Increase Password Complexity option if you would like to require that passwords contain 3 of the 4 options listed below.

    • Upper case letter
    • Lower case letter
    • Symbol
    • Number

  • Enter the minimum Password Length in the provided box.
  • Enable the Expire Session option if you would like to program to automatically log a user out of the system after the specified number of minutes. Enter the desired time into the Session Time Out field.
  • Use the Enable Password History Restriction to restrict employees from using the same password within the specified range. Enter the Password History Size.
    Example: The “Password History Size” is set to 10. The system will force the employee to pick a new password that has not been used for the previous 10 passwords.
  • Use Enable Password Expiration to cause user passwords to expire after the set number of days. Enter the desired number of days into the Password Expiration field. The system will notify users of the upcoming password expiration for the number of days specified in the Password Expiration Notification field.
  • Use Disable User After Failed Login Attempts to automatically disable a system user after the specified number of failed login attempts. Enter the Max Failed Login Attempts in the field provided.

When you have entered the desired rules for password complexity, click on the [SAVE] icon at the bottom of the screen.
